This diagram shows the potential energy of a baseball bat. When the bat hits the ball, the potential energy becomes kinetic energy (turning into momentum), and exchanges momentum with the ball. There is more momentum after the hit with the new-styled ball.
Rolling friction slows the ball down as it rolls to the fielder.
Interior of a modern (cork) baseball. The cork interior has more elastic potential energy than the hard rubber cores of its' predecessor.
A fielder catches a fly ball. Gravity brings the ball down to the fielder's glove.
